It was my privilege to be in Helsinki in April for the 7th LCJE - it was a wonderful Consultation and an amazing experience and, as the only resident of South Africa present, it was no surprise to be asked to serve as Area Co-ordinator for South Africa – and my privilege to accept.
For a couple of years the work of LCJE in South Africa had fallen into inactivity as two Area Coordinators moved away, but now I hope that it’s back in the groove.
We immediately circulated all the contacts we could find (43 in all) by email and other means, and received quite a few responses – including some actual payments of subs (!), some additional contacts and a few letters indicating that they our friends are glad that LCJE is represented in South Africa once again.
The task is now to keep all our friends in touch with the organisation and to look towards a conference in Johannesburg and one in Cape Town (which are 1,600kms apart!) in 2004.
